Wide Area Networks - WAN Networking Solutions Bring Your Business Together
Experience secure, efficient connectivity for all your locations.

As your organization grows – more people, more locations – it’s critical that your network infrastructure is able to grow as well and support your business activities. WAN (Wide Area Network) connections bring data centers, remote offices and mobile users together to provide everyone with the access they need in order to keep operations running smoothly.

Xtel Communications provides a variety of WAN networking solutions to help bridge the gap and meet all of your networking needs. We understand the importance of quick and reliable access from any location, and our experts are standing by to help you create a customized Wide Area Network solution to fit your specific needs.

Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) Service

Xtel’s WAN EVPL service delivers both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions that help you decrease cost and improve connectivity among dispersed locations. In addition, EVPL supports converged services (voice/video/data) on a single local connection. This WAN option is a complete Enterprise Private Line alternative for site-to-site or hub and spoke connectivity.

Benefits of Xtel EVPL Solutions
  • Cost Effective – More effective means to manage network costs with less overbuilds.
  • VLAN Tagging – Allows multiple EVPL circuits into a single handoff.
  • Scalable Bandwidth – Granular bandwidth options ranging from 10 Mbps – 10 Gbps.
  • Use Less Power – Multiservice access (ability to purchase multiple services via on interface) decreases equipment/power requirements and increases efficiencies.
  • Extensive geographical coverage
  • Uptime – SLAs provide network availability guarantees
Layer 2 Switched Ethernet Service (TLS & ENS)

Transparent LAN Service (TLS) & Ethernet Network Service (ENS) provide the opportunity for lower data communications costs at native Ethernet speeds between sites. TLS & ENS connect locations together at native LAN speeds and Ethernet interfaces of 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps and/or 10 Gbps.

LANs are extended over dedicated fiber loops to Ethernet switches based at the central location. These connections (called UNIs) provide connectivity to any other UNI in that network through an Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC). Each EVC uses a port-based Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), so each end customer only sees a “private” network or closed user group, and therefore cannot communicate with other customer groups (referred to as domains).

Benefits of Xtel Layer 2 Switched Ethernet
  • Native Ethernet Handoff – No protocol conversion required
  • Scalability – Capability to support any number of sites and configurations
  • Uptime – 24/7 network monitoring & SLAs provide network availability guarantees
  • Class of Service (CoS) Choices – Ability to prioritize traffic for voice and data applications
  • Security – Individual VLAN assignments combine increased security with cost savings of a shared network
Ethernet Private Line (EPL) Service

Ethernet Private Line (EPL) provides a point-to-point Ethernet connection between two locations. EPL is a cost effective, reliable, high capacity Wide Area Network alternative to traditional TDM private lines that allows businesses to instantly and privately transmit sensitive, mission-critical data at speeds from 10Mbps to 10Gbps.

High speed, dedicated point-to-point connectivity is useful for metro applications including online backup, storage area networking and high capacity data center connectivity. EPL offers three Classes of Service (CoS) including Basic, Priority and Premium. The service is offered with 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 1Gbps or 10Gbps Ethernet User-to-Network Interfaces (UNI) and is available in speed increments from 10Mbps to 10Gbps.

Benefits of Xtel Ethernet Private Line (EPL) Service
  • Privacy – Data is transferred over a layer 2, dedicated, high capacity, point-to-point connection at native Ethernet speeds
  • Scalability – Bandwidth options ranging from 10Mbps up to 10Gbps
  • Availability – Easily link business locations in geographically dispersed areas
  • Cost Savings – Connect your company’s Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) with a lower cost Ethernet interface
  • Security – Individual VLAN assignments combine increased security with cost savings of a shared network
