DS1 (T1)
A DS1 (also called T1) line can carry 24 digitized voice channels, or it can carry data at a rate of 1.544 megabits per second - roughly 60 times more data than a normal residential modem. A T1 allows for highly secure, point to point data transmission, as well as dedicated Internet Access.
DS3 (T3)
DS3 (also called a T3) transmits information at the rate of 45 megabits per–second (Mbps), which is the equivalent of 28 DS-1s or 672 simultaneous voice conversations over the line. That's enough capacity to handle the bandwidth requirements of heavy Internet users such as larger corporations, universities, and hospitals.
